  DO NOT HIRE MARK STURM. I wish I had read the other review before I hired him. I won't go into detail but just to say he is the flakiest accountant I have ever worked with. He not only doesn't remember things I requested, he actually makes things up. You would think an accountant would be detailed about things. And when you call him on it, he gets extremely defensive. He requested information and told me that some was not necessary. His secretary told me the opposite and then he said that she was wrong. When I didn't get the information to him in a timely manner, he did the work anyway without authorization. I asked him not balance my account because I had already done so. He still did it. He charged me $2200 and won't tell me on the phone exactly what he did. He told me my finances were a mess. That's why I went to him. He told me I was dishonest but won't tell me why. Now he won't finish the job so I have nothing at all to show for a bill of $2200. He says he is going to sue me now. DO NOT HIRE MARK STURM

  DO NOT HIRE MARK STURM! I do not recommend hiring Mark Sturm, and believe he needs to be investigated by the IRS for his conduct. He should not be allowed to file taxes for anyone. I am seriously concerned for anyone else who uses him for their taxes. If Mark Sturm is your accountant, I highly advise you to take another look at your tax returns with another accountant. I’m the former CEO of a tech startup, and retained Mark Sturm to help me with my taxes for my startup. At first he was professional in an attempt to obtain my business, and even came to my house to discuss my tax situation, but shortly after retaining him his conduct soon became unprofessional, erratic, and eventually fraudulent. Mark filed paperwork with the state I told him not to file, miscalculated most of my expenses, showed revenue exceeding what I earned by several hundred thousand dollars, forced me into extensions and billed me for them, but only 1 of the 2 extensions was even filed causing a $1,170 penalty from the IRS when my other accountant finally finished my taxes. Mark also refused to schedule a phone call with me and I have not spoken to him since February, 2016. The only way he will occasionally communicate with me is via e-mail, of which he ignores my concerns and instead just e-mails threats, false accusations, or insults. He violated our engagement agreement, and violated our revised agreement when I foolishly made payment to him in full upfront in April for taxes he still had yet to complete. To top it all off, he was sending me invoices with no indication of what I was being billed for, sent me conflicting invoices in the physical mail from what he was e-mailing, and it took 2 weeks for his office to figure out what I was even being billed for and of course I was being billed for services I had never ordered or received. All of the numbers he provided me were mostly made up, and my old accountant had to start-over from scratch. Do not give this man money, and do not trust him with your taxes or your business. He is a fraud.
